About the
hist1.gif (334 bytes)
The drawing shows the Baptist Chapel in Peel Street, a well known Accrington Landmark. However it's important to realise that the Church is not just the building; it is the people who meet their to worship God - those who believe the Bible to be His word and have come to a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. The church is like an extended family with Christ at the head. Building2.gif (3213 bytes)
hist2.gif (462 bytes) The Church began in 1836 when ordinary local people gathered together to hear the word of God preached in a plain way with no 'harmful additives' and nothing 'left out'. The building was opened fourteen years later. It has recently been modernised and extended to meet the present and future needs of a growing church.
hist3.gif (372 bytes) Baptists believe that each of us must come to Christ personally for salvation. We cannot become Christians through what our parents have done, by born into a 'Christian' family or even through good works. Salvation comes only through the free gift of God's forgiveness made possible through Christ's death on the cross. Saving faith is a matter of trust in Him alone as the one who not only died but was raised again after three days.

Baptism (total immersion) in water gives us a picture of the change brought about in our lives as a result of faith in Jesus. It is an effective way of showing that our 'old life' has been 'buried' and our new life in relationship to God has taken it's place (resurrection with Christ).

may or may not be a church goer - many people aren't and find the whole religious scene very confusing ... "it's enough to put anyone off" ...

God is not confused, he has actually told us all we need to know about him in his own perfect book the Bible

hist6.gif (420 bytes)

we aim to help everyone to understand God's plain message concerning such things as....
hist7.gif (318 bytes) How it got here. Why it's so amazing. What's gone wrong. Where it's heading
hist8.gif (242 bytes) Why we are so special to God. Why we have lost touch with him. Why we still need him.
hist9.gif (166 bytes) What he's like. How he communicates. His Justice, Love and Grace
hist10.gif (356 bytes) Who he really is. Why he came. What he taught. Why he died. When he's coming again. What will happen then.
hist11.gif (214 bytes) What it really means. Why we fear it. How we can face it and be sure about what comes next
